British rider Connor Bainbridge rounded off the 2019 season with a bronze medal in the final round of the Kitefoil Gold Cup.
Bainbridge, 26, missed out on silver by just one point in a highly contested finale in Cagliari, Italy.
The result sees him finish the four-date Kitefoil Gold Cup in sixth overall, just two points off third and only six behind winner Axel Mazella.
“It was great to finish the 2019 season on a high,” said Bainbridge. “It’s been a very long and mixed season for me – since medalling at the worlds in April I have had a few poor performances so I’m really happy to go into my winter training with a lot to work on but feeling positive about my year.
“Cagliari showed us some of the most extreme conditions we get in sailing and it was amazing to see so many up and coming riders taking on the conditions.”
The British Sailing Team’s Guy and Olly Bridge were absent from competition because they are part of the Team GB contingent taking on the World Beach Games in Doha, Qatar.
Fresh from being crowned European champion, Ellie Aldridge led the British women coming home sixth, one place ahead of team mate Jemima Crathorne.
Katie Dabson was ninth, Maddy Anderson was 12th and Lily Young was 17th.
