From one end of the British Isles to the other Jess Lavery and Flora Stewart have come together to take on the two person dinghy.
From the south coast of England, Jess Lavery was first let loose by her parents at the age of five to take control of an Optimist and hasn’t looked back since. It was the double hander that grabbed her attention though and led to a 470 Junior World silver medal in 2014.
Moving north to Scotland and crew Flora Stewart was a relatively late sailing starter at the age of 12 and only got involved after her brothers sailed in school. Since then Stewart has had the highs of 470 Junior World silver and bronze medals and the lows of an 18 month lay-off on her journey to the British Sailing Team.
Despite geography, Team Lavery Stewart is the coming together of great minds as both hold university degrees. Lavery in Engineering Design from the University of Bristol and Stewart in Sports Performance from the University of Bath.
