Having had his first taste of sailing aged six in an Optimist dinghy at his local reservoir Grafham Water, Giles Scott quickly became a force to be reckoned with on the youth circuit winning the 2005 Youth World Championships in the Laser.

Scott made the jump into Finn heavyweight dinghy class, winning the Junior World Championship in 2008. The following year he became a fully-fledged member of the British Sailing Team – and more victories followed.

Gold at the 2011 Finn World Championship was the first of four world titles Scott would rack up before getting a shot at Olympic glory at Rio 2016. Having dominated the class , Scott secured his place in the history books winning the gold medal with a day to spare.

Scott is considered one of world’s best tacticians, and outside of the Olympic circuit he is a member of Sir Ben Ainslie’s America’s Cup team.
