Sailing for Georgina Povall began in an old Redhill gravel pit aged just seven as she and her twin sister took to the water in Laser Pico dinghies.
It wasn’t until the family moved to Hickling though that a young Povall started to race dinghies along the Norfolk Broads to begin her journey to the British Sailing Team.
Progressing through the Laser ranks from 4.7 to Radial, which included a bronze medal at the World Laser Radial Youth Championships in 2012, Povall has combined her elite sailing with studies and holds a degree in Economics from the University of Bath.
For the Laser Radial sailor it is a choice between earning her millions as an investment banker in the city or the beach life…it was an easy decision. Which way is the beach?
