Kieran Holmes-Martin

Date of birth: 7 February 1995
Birth place: Darley Dale, Derbyshire
Home town: Cheadle, Staffordshire

Kieran Martin-Holmes’ sailing career could have been so different had he stuck with his first love – dinghies.

However his parents were avid windsurfers, and when he asked to for lessons they duly obliged.

Ten years later Holmes-Martin streaked to glory at the Youth World Championships in the men’s RS:X class, affirming him as one to watch.

Holmes-Martin’s world title wasn’t his first – he also has victories at the Techno 293 Under 17 and Under 15 world championships to his name.

Now a fully-fledged British Sailing Team athlete, Holmes-Martin has put in an impressive turn on the senior international scene, with runner-up places at major events such as Enoshima Olympic Week and the RS:X class European championships.

He pulled off the results while studying for a degree in mechanical engineering at Exeter University.

Holmes-Martin’s goal is to follow in the footsteps of Nick Dempsey, the most successful Olympic windsurfer of all time, by representing Team GB at Tokyo 2020 and beyond.
